When ever you find some one who is related to you and their headstone always look at the stones surrounding it you will almost always find some else in your family.
Take a Walk
You don`t always need to be researching when you go to the cemetery go just for fun. Take a walk to clear your head or get some exercise or what you want you don`t always need to be so seriuos when you go have some fun.
Rembering The Stone
If you want to remember a certain stone but want something cooler than a picture search no farther all you need is paper and crayons. To give a headstone the creative look you can do headstone rubbings. Here are some simple instructions on how to make your masterpiece.
How To Make Headstone Rubbings
1 Find the stone of your choice
2 Make sure the stone is clear of anything that may smear onto the paper
3 Get the appropriate sized paper for that stone
4 Put to small pieces of tape on the top and bottom of the paper or have some one hold it still
5 Turn the crayon on its side and press hard but not so hard you can`t see the inscription
6 Remove to tape carefully so as not to leave any on the stone or rip your rubbing
Get a map
Don`t keep just wandering around the same cemetery sometimes you need to find a map and explore new ones. It`s always good to try new ones otherwise you`ll just get bored, so experience new places and totally different stones try a whole new cemetery. If there isn`t another one in your area and you don`t want to go to far just try a different pathway I`m sure that you will find new things.
Watch Your Step
If you`re walking through an old cemetery try not to step on the stones that are laying down on the ground. Most of the time they are covered with grass or dirt so you can not see them very well so make sure to pay attention.
Check your batteries
If you ever go to the cemetery with your camera make sure that you always check your batteries and memory card, or you`ll be out of luck when get there and have no way to take any pictures.
Always bring a notebook
Whenever you go on an expedition in the cemetery for whatever reason bring a notebook and a pen with to write down your findings. You never know what you may find and you don`t want to forget how to get there, what the names were and what you found.
